Why do I need Infrared? The infrared transfer is one of the most important features of the QuickPAD Portable Word Processor. Without the infrared, a direct physical connection is required to upload your documents to a desktop computer. This means the unit must be plugged in to the computer to send. With a single user, this is a mild inconvenience. In a classroom environment however, the infrared transfer is a necessity. Forcing approximately 30 students (a typical classroom) to walk to the front of the room and take turns plugging in the word processor, uploading, unplugging and handing the cable to the next student, can be time consuming and extremely inconvenient. It will inevitably lead to wear and tear, as the pins on the cable bend and break and the data port on the word processor becomes loose. With infrared, students can transfer with a single keystroke, and need not even leave their desks. The transfer has been successfully tested up to 20 feet! Why do I need a Portfolio Filing System? The QuickPAD Portfolio Filing System allows several students to use the same QuickPAD worry-free. The QuickPAD contains 10 separate file directories, each of which holds 25 files (250 file storage total). Each of the 10 folders can be assigned a password, allowing up to 10 students to share a single QuickPAD, without being able to plagiarize or tamper with each others work. Should a password be forgotten, our technical support can provide an override password, ensuring that a teacher will never be locked out by the students.
