When the external hand switches are removed/unplugged from the AbleTrack it functions as a normal trackball with the built in switches now operational. With the AbleTrack, one hand is used to move the trackball and the other hand controls the hand switches instead of one hand trying to do both. Even if you use wrist or thumb splints, you can still use the AbleTrack easier than an ordinary trackball or mouse. And you don't have to worry about inadvertently pressing a switch on the unit because they are disconnected when the remote hand switches are plugged in.
