When the external foot switches are removed/unplugged from the AbleTrack it functions as a normal trackball with the built in switches now operational. With the AbleTrack, one foot is used to move the trackball and the other foot controls the hand switches instead of one foot trying to do both. Even if you use wrist or thumb splints, you can still use the AbleTrack easier than an ordinary trackball or mouse. And you don't have to worry about inadvertently pressing a switch on the unit because they are disconnected when the remote foot switches are plugged in.
